Autumn Walk...

Yesterday saw some beautiful weather in the UK, and I also met up with my friend Lauren, who I haven't seen in more than a year. Because the weather was so nice, we decided to take a walk.

First off, we walked around the back roads to the church. I love the old stones it's made of.

At the side of the church is a farmyard with a farmhouse, old farm buildings and a car park for the church itself. And leading off from the yard are a couple of fields. The zoom on my camera is pretty good, as you can see in the picture above.

We took a wander down the canal at this point, and the boats were as pretty as always.

The sky wasn't perfect, I must admit, but most of the time it was pure blue with only a few puffy clouds.

The sky started clouding over as we were almost back home, but we still had a lot of photo opportunities :)

Looking back the way we'd just walked, this boat was slightly lopsided!

I really love this picture! The colours matched the boat, and they were just sitting there asking for a photo. Little did I know....

...that Lauren had found this little beauty resting on top of the same barge! She (I don't know if it was a she or a he) was so photogenic, and also so very friendly!

Walking back along the Moor's Lane, we said hello to the sheep...but they didn't seem very interested in us at all :(

The light was gorgeous at this point so I just couldn't resist this shot!

Almost home now...

And then we were home. This sign is so much ignored ;)

Back home, once Lauren had left, I was talking to Greg on webcam all evening. Such a lovely day :)

Tunesday...

I have been a little busy lately, what with the school holidays coming round and meeting with friends :)

I chose this song, because it's so catchy and I'm truly obsessed with it at the minute!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)

For some reason the video isn't showing as it normally does, but you'll find it if you follow the link :)

Hot chocolate...

It's been so cold recently, with the clocks going back and the so-called 'storm' we were supposed-to-but-didn't-get in the UK.

And as it so happens, the yesterday I was having an excessively long conversation with one of my friends, Greg, about hot chocolate. The result of this was me making myself one and him being jealous.

It was just what I needed to warm me up, so would you like to see how I make them?? I'll post a tutorial tomorrow or Wednesday, if you'd like :)

Think Happy...3/52...

How has everyone's week been? Mine has been a mixture of both up and downs :)

1. I've made great progress in designing an amigurumi for a competition! I'll make sure to post a link when the voting opens :)

2. I had some great photo opportunities with the little girls I teach in ballet :)

Left to right - me, Hannah and Georgie :)
3. I found out that I'm performing at a retirement home for the lovely elderly people next Saturday :) I'm strangely excited!

That's all for now, but I'll catch up soon :) But, do you have something you'd like to see me post about? Feel free to comment below ♥

You can read more about it here :) Have a good day everyone :)

Tunesday...

Yay, I posted on time this week! It's actually a miracle, what with all the revision I have to do at the minute.

But today's song is Girls/Girls/Boys by Panic! At The Disco :) I love this so much!
WARNING: You may not like the video ;)

Think Happy...2/52...

I'm so sorry that this is late, I've being getting so much revision from school that I have to do for my GCSEs :( But I do have a spare couple of minutes this afternoon, so I'll write to you all now.

Last week wasn't really the most memorable week for me, what with all the schoolwork I've been doing, but my dancing was great, as usual :)

So my happy things this week are:
1. I managed to do a scorpion leap in street dance :D Well, it was a very good attempt, anyway.

2. In contemporary we added more onto our dance, to this song :)

3. I've been planning for my friend's birthday on the 23rd :)

That's all for now, see you soon :)

Spring Wreath...

Last weekend I finished off a long-time WIP (work-in-progress) and it's really making me wish for spring to hurry up!

I don't have a picture of the finished thing yet, but I do have pictures of the assembly.

First I crocheted a ring using this lovely pattern, and then sewed on roses and leaves I made from this pattern.

Next was the back piece. I used the same pattern I used for the front.

I then cut a ring the same size as the crochet ones out of a shoebox, and sewed the pieces together around it.

Thanks so much for visiting, I'll share a picture of the finished wreath soon :)

Tunesday...

Well I guess I don't know the days of the week, since I didn't post 'Tunesday' on Tuesday...so I guess I'll do it now.

The song I've chosen for this week is Closer To The Edge by 30 Seconds To Mars. I love this song so much because it's so inspirational to me and it's just amazing. So, enjoy!

Think Happy...1/52...

Hello! It's Sunday today so I'm guessing I can start my 'Think Happy' plan. I got the idea from another blog, Tales from a happy house, and it's just coincidental that Gillian is finishing hers today and I'm starting mine!

But before I start my happy thoughts, I'd like to show you a little something I made today whilst revising.

It's a micro heart! I made it with pink sewing thread and a 0.6mm crochet hook from this pattern. It measures 11mm across at the widest point!

I've been wanting to try my hand at micro-crochet for a long time, but I've only just had the time to have a go. It was tricky at first but I got the hang of it pretty quickly, meaning I can't wait to make something else!

I posted it here on Ravelry too :)

So now for the good things in my life:

1. My friend has recovered just enough to teach his contemporary class once more, after having to cancel two of the classes. I love this class so much!

2. It was my bestfriend's (Hannah's) birthday yesterday! Happy 15th birthday Hannah :3

3. Corned beef sandwiches :D You've got to love them.

4. I made my first micro-crochet amigurumi and it turned out very well, in my opinion.

5. My mum made some chocolate flapjack with chocolate chips in twice this week, and some melting moments. The flapjack is my favourite, I might post the recipe next week.

So that's all for today, I must get back to my revision and GCSE coursework. Oh, the joys ;)

Love, Carys ♥

A Fresh Start...

Recently, I've been having more and more ideas for this blog. I first started it on July 23rd 2012 and I solely intended to post patterns and the occasional update whenever I disappeared.

It's been a long time since I've posted anything other than patterns, due to my GCSEs and my dance, and there's nothing I can do about that.

But I do have a couple of ideas to get the ball rolling once more, or to even start it rolling in the first place.

On Tuesdays I will be posting a link to a song and writing about the reasons I chose it. Maybe this way you will be able to listen to something new.

On Sundays I will be writing about what good things are happening in my life. I'm going to try to write at least five each time, as a way to focus on the good and not the bad.

Lastly, for the minute anyway, on the last day of each month I will be summing up my whole month, both in writing and in pictures.

My head is currently a mixture of knitting and crochet, dancing, and photography. So my posts will mainly follow along those lines, but may stray occasionally.

For example now. I know someone in the X FACTOR!!!

Joe "Connor" Conaboy (second from right) has made it through to the live shows on the X Factor with his group 'Kingsland Road'. I doubt he remembers me, but we used to dance at the same dance school, Impact Dance with Hayley.

The time I remember most vividly is when the theme for our annual show was 'Around the World in 90 minutes'. He was dancing in a dance called Africa, and he was one of only two guys in the dance, since there were loads more girls. He and Rob (the other guy) were constantly walking around backstage with just a pair of shorts on with grass skirts (or something similar) on top. No shirts.

So to all the girls screaming and going crazy about Kingsland Road on the X Factor? All I can say is that I've hi-fived him, talked to him and seen him shirtless.

That makes me feel pretty happy, actually :)
